Do Not Envy Youth (The Friday Ficks S5 E1)

Yet another new year has dawned.

What to do. What to do. What to do.

You may think your fitness ship has sailed. It hasn't.

You may want to get back in the game but think you are too old. You aren't.

You may think you don't have the time to exercise. You do.

You may think you have lost your endurance. You haven't.

You may think you are too slow. Nope.

You may think you don’t have the necessary skills. Wrong.

You may yearn for the glory days. No need - there are plenty more ahead of you.

Cardiologist, prolific runner and accomplished author George Sheehan once said that “not to yield says it all. The enduring, the surviving, does not stop with age. We may even grow more skillful at it as the years pass. So do not envy youth.“

You have endured. You have survived. You have not yielded.

Take the lead from Led Zeppelin’s "Stairway to Heaven" and know that "there's still time to change the road you're on."

It’s easier than you think to change the road you’re on, and when you pick out that new road, go ahead and run it, ride it, rollerblade it or walk it.

Yield not. And do not envy youth.

Own the day. Own the weekend.
